Two pilots in an airliner cockpit

Why Every Drone Pilot Should Attend FAASTeam Safety Seminars

October 30, 2026

By Captain Robert Ashby

The FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) works to improve aviation safety through education and outreach. Its programs are open to the whole aviation community — and drone pilots are a fast-growing part of it.

What’s available

  • Free seminars and webinars on topics like airspace, weather and risk management
  • Online courses through FAASafety.gov, including the free Part 107 recurrent training
  • A chance to connect with experienced pilots and FAASTeam representatives in your area

Why it matters

Drones share the sky with helicopters, crop dusters, medical flights and airliners. Seminars give you context that a test can’t — how manned aircraft operate at low altitude, what pilots can and can’t see, and how to stay predictable.

DronePro outreach

As a FAASTeam DronePro representative, our instructor supports safety education for the drone community. Upcoming seminars and events we’re part of will be announced here in the Logbook.
